Abstract

The public interest in finding affordable solutions for multiple purpose autonomous robots has increased in the last years. The main features are recognition of defined targets and autonomous navigation between them. Human input is only required for defining the main objectives. The case study is represented by the implementation of an automated robotic system for watering indoor plants. Here we present the implementation of a prototype robot that makes the connection between advanced tools offered by image processing software libraries and one of the many commercial affordable mobile platforms based on the Raspberry Pi board.
