Abstract

Ultrasonic technology has been using for years. Different Ultrasonic sensors are used in homes, shops, to navigate, object detection and for what is known as map building. The aim of this work is to build an ultrasonic device which is basically one kind of a radar system to get exact distance and approximate 2D shape for fixed objects placed around the device based on trigonometric rules. Its uses distance of the Ultrasonic sensor with the trigonometric rules to get the shape of the object. Some sensors like laser or infrared are used to measure the distance of obstacles, and consequently enable a robot to take a decision depending on the obstacles, or lack of obstacles, around it. But they are sensitive to strong light sources containing a high level of infrared radiation, and also to the color of obstacles, cannot detect objects that reflect lasers (windows, chrome-plated objects, etc.). So we are building such kind of device that can detect the object that is neutral to high radiation and color of the object. Microcontroller, ultrasonic sensors and MATLAB software is used to achieve the aim. The result was a device that can show the approximate 2D shape in a dotted graph.
