Abstract

This paper presents the design and construction of a small obstacle avoiding robot based on Arduino UNO, a Bluetooth module and programming tools. The robot is a small mobile machine that avoids obstacles and it does so through an ultrasonic sensor that will detect the distance of the objects in front of it and make decision about its trajectory. When approaching a certain distance, the Arduino UNO will send a signal and with the help of a bridge H will cause the engines to turn the car and therefore avoid the obstacle. The bridge H helps the controller to turn the car whatever direction required. The evasion of obstacles is a fundamental characteristic for robot operation. With this characteristic taken care of, future robots with more complex functionality can perform its work without getting stuck in the middle due to some obstacle they have encountered along the way. Throughout the document different requirements of both hardware and software for the robot operation are explained, the proposed design is presented and finally results and conclusions are shown.
