Abstract

A nociceptor can recognize the stimuli that exceed the threshold of human pain perception so that the human body can respond in time. However, the current function of artificial nociceptors is limited to recognize harmful stimuli and generate immunity, and there is less simulation for more diverse physiological behaviors. Designing artificial synapses with multibiological neuronal functions as well as learning, memory, and sensory functions is more conducive to artificial intelligence systems. Here, we report a solution-processable multifunctional organic polymer artificial synaptic device. With the achievement of multiessential synaptic functions, an important sensory neuron, nociceptor, is simulated and can accurately distinguish between relaxed, sensitized, and desensitized states. Additionally, we employed synaptic devices for heart rate monitoring and realized the recognition of excessive heart rate and hypertension to achieve the purpose of health detection. Finally, a flexible memristor with stable switching behaviors after repeated mechanical bending was fabricated. The simultaneous realization of the functions for nociceptor simulation and neuromorphic computing is more beneficial to the establishment of an artificial intelligence system. Our research provides a reference for the application of neuromorphic devices in the areas of intelligent sensory systems and robotics.
