Abstract
Nowadays, Image fusion seems to be the most promising area in image processing. It plays a pivotal role in different applications, namely medical diagnosis, object detection and recognition, navigation, military, civilian surveillance, robotics, satellite imaging for remote sensing. The process of image fusion aims to integrate two or more images into a single image, which consists of more useful information when compared with each of the source images without introducing any artefacts. In this review paper, three aspects are considered: image fusion methods on spatial domain and transform domain methods, Image fusion rules on transform domain method and image fusion metrics. This review includes different applications, including medical image fusion methodologies.
