Abstract
This paper presents an overview of an autonomous driving project in which the first phase featured a robotic vehicle controlled by an electronic co-pilot. Information was obtained by the co-pilot from a laser scanner. The vehicle was also equipped with an electronic brake booster which allowed for emergency stopping. Preliminary test results indicated that the system was able to stop in front of a test obstacle or avoid a collision by steering.
