Elon Musk Says Tesla Will Sell Optimus Humanoid Robots to the Public by End of 2027
Tesla CEO Elon Musk confirmed during a January 2026 appearance that the company plans to begin selling its Optimus humanoid robot externally by the end of 2027, with limited commercial sales potentially starting as early as late 2026 at a target price around $30,000. Optimus has been undergoing internal factory testing at Tesla facilities throughout 2025 and into 2026. The Q1 2026 earnings call also revealed that Optimus version 3 is in development.
