Overview

The Virginia-class submarine program builds the most advanced attack submarines for the U.S. Navy. Newport News Shipbuilding, one of only two shipyards capable of designing and building nuclear-powered submarines, collaborates with General Dynamics Electric Boat. These submarines use advanced technologies for increased firepower, maneuverability and stealth, with submerged speeds over 25 knots and endurance up to three months.
