The application of intelligent automation technology is crucial in environmental sustainability, notably in the agricultural sector to improve food security and combat hunger. This paper examined several cutting-edge technology advancements in autonomous agricultural equipment, including GPS-enabled tractors, GPS-based remote-controlled robots, drone farming, intelligent poultry farms, and intelligent greenhouses. Precision farming, remote troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair, as well as the possible loss of agricultural labor employment, are some of the effects of smart automation technologies on agriculture that are also covered.Smart sensors, autonomous machines, actuating devices, new information technology, and mechatronic systems can all be integrated into farming to produce high-precision farming with little waste and increased production. With everything considered, the application of smart automation technology in agriculture has the potential to greatly increase production and environmental sustainability while addressing the problem of food security. Artificial neural networks (ANNs), fuzzy logic, and neuro-fuzzy approaches are among the computational intelligence techniques that are becoming increasingly crucial for enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of mechatronic systems for environmental sustainability, notably in water management. In tasks including forecasting water demand, estimating water quality, and optimizing irrigation schedules, ANNs have shown potential. In conclusion, the adoption of smart automation technologies and computational intelligence in mechatronic systems is essential for improving environmental stability. The integration of these technologies can lead to significant improvements in energy efficiency, waste reduction, and sustainability.
