Blockchain-Based Framework for Secure Robotics Communication

An innovative methodology for developing a secure and reliable distributed communication system for robotics is introduced, leveraging the integration of the Robot Operating System (ROS) with blockchain technology. This work is centered around facilitating interactions among multiple robots within a blockchain-based communication framework, employing a Byzantine Fault Tolerance (BFT) consensus algorithm. The objective of this method is to augment scalability while addressing the inherent limitations associated with blockchain. To evaluate the viability and effectiveness of the proposed framework, a multi-robot system was constructed and simulated for communication trials. The capability of blockchain-driven solutions in multi-robot systems to enable efficient a nd trustworthy distributed communication mechanisms for the robots is explored. Results demonstrate that the proposed framework performs well in ensuring safe communication, even with limited resources. This suggests promising potential for using blockchain to create secure and reliable communication systems for robots.
