摘要

Robots and machines are increasingly being designed to exhibit empathetic behaviours, allowing them to recognize and respond to human emotions in a more natural and engaging way. By incorporating empathy into their interactions, robots can establish stronger connections with humans and provide more meaningful and satisfying experiences. Empathy in human-robot interaction involves the robot's ability to perceive and understand the user's emotional state and respond appropriately. This can be achieved through various modalities, such as facial expressions, speech prosody, gaze, and body language. However, the effectiveness of empathetic robots is not solely dependent on their emotional expressivity. The type of solutions they provide, and their functional capabilities also play a crucial role. Users prioritize the robot's usefulness and the quality of the solutions it offers, even if it means sacrificing some emotional intelligence. As the field of social robotics continues to advance, the incorporation of empathy into robot design will become increasingly important. By bridging the gap between artificial and human emotions, empathetic robots can create more engaging and meaningful interactions, ultimately leading to stronger relationships between humans and their robotic companions. This paper aims to explore the role of empathy in the design and development of robots, examining the theoretical foundations, practical applications, and ethical considerations surrounding this emerging field. By understanding the importance of empathy in human-robot interaction, we can pave the way for a future where robots seamlessly integrate into our lives, providing not only functional support but also emotional understanding and companionship.
