摘要
The integration of technology into the quest for our daily living and its implications for life itself has endured substantial growth and transformation. However, the emergence and innovation that culminated in the Fifth Industrial Revolution, necessitating and galvanizing profound visible positive outcomes in economies, society, and industries, have left no one in doubt. The study has provided an extensive assessment of the Fifth Industrial Revolution, and its implications for human resources is the anchor of this chapter. Industry 5.0 is concerned with the desire to adapt or fine-tune the current technologies to suit the changing world. Organizations must also adapt their HRM culture and outlook along with this evolution. The Internet of Things, automation, blockchain, robotics, and artificial intelligence are some of the driving forces galvanizing the revolution of these technologies. The chapter critically examines the evolving nature of these technologies and their impacts on traditional workforce structure. It equally appraises the implications of these technological developments on the workforce, not neglecting job roles, skill requirements, and workflows. It envisions the challenges and prospects of the Fifth Industrial Revolution for human resources, and its attendant possibility: for enhanced productivity, improved employee experiences, and the need for skill upgrading and retraining programs. Also, the chapter evaluates ethical issues and their effects on the application of Industry 5.0 in the workplace, with greater emphasis on employee well-being, regulations, and other practices while visualizing the future of work by comprehending the indeterminate influence of the Fifth Industrial Revolution on human resources. Ultimately, the chapter mirrors the consequences of Industry 5.0 for workforce, skills, and competencies, not overlooking the need to implement it, keeping with the demands of the job market, reequipping, and skill development. Industry 5.0 represents a convergence of transitions toward environmental sustainability and digitalization, aiming to create a more efficient, effective, and sustainable society and economy.
