AI and Robotics Leading Industry 4.0

The recent developments in Industry 4.0 are mainly due to Artificial Intelligence. Nowadays, the industry focuses on improving the consistency of products and reducing overall costs and production rates. This can only be achieved through successful collaboration between humans and robots. With the help of artificial intelligence systems, hyper-connected machines can collect and process all kinds of data to improve the manufacturing process further. The industry can use artificial intelligence to process information from connected machines and IoT devices that allow companies to track all activities and processes from start to finish. In this paper, we review the literature to highlight the critical role of artificial intelligence in the success of Industry 4.0 implementation. Some of the challenges faced in implementing artificial intelligence are also discussed. Regardless of the potential applicability and research gaps, a so many cities are leaning toward implementing artificial intelligence-based manufacturing.
