About
Shunjian Xu is a materials scientist whose research focuses on the design and development of advanced flexible piezoelectric materials for next-generation wearable electronics, implantable medical devices, and robotic electronic skin. His major contributions center on engineering the electroactive β phase in polyvinylidene fluoride–hexafluoropropylene (PVDF-HFP) through the strategic incorporation of functional nanomaterials. In his highly cited 2021 work, Xu demonstrated that carbon quantum dots can effectively induce β phase formation, significantly boosting the piezoelectric performance of the polymer matrix. Building on this, his 2023 study introduced ZnO@carbon dot nanoparticles to simultaneously enhance both the electroactive phase content and antibacterial activity, creating a multifunctional material platform.
