About

Piotr Yablonskii is a pioneering thoracic surgeon whose research focuses on advancing minimally invasive surgical techniques for complex pulmonary tuberculosis. His major contributions lie in demonstrating the feasibility and safety of robot-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (RATS) for patients with drug-resistant tuberculosis, a population traditionally requiring high-risk open thoracotomy due to dense pleural and vascular adhesions. In his landmark 2017 study (14 citations), Yablonskii showed that robotic systems can overcome the limitations of video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) in these challenging cases, enabling successful minimally invasive operations.
