Matthew Truong is a urologic surgeon and researcher whose work centers on advancing surgical techniques for complex kidney and bladder cancers. He is best known for his pioneering contributions to robotic partial nephrectomy, particularly in patients with multiple tumors in a single kidney. His landmark study, "Renal functional outcomes after robotic multiplex partial nephrectomy," drawn from the National Cancer Institute experience, demonstrated that robotic surgery can safely preserve kidney function even when removing three or more tumors—a high-risk, technically demanding procedure.
