About
Dr. Jenny Goudemand is a leading hematologist whose research has significantly advanced the diagnosis and management of von Willebrand disease (VWD), the most common inherited bleeding disorder. Her work centers on refining diagnostic methodologies, particularly through the validation of rapid, quantitative assays for von Willebrand factor (VWF) antigen. In her landmark 2010 study, part of the European multicenter MCMDM-1VWD project, she demonstrated the clinical utility of the VWF-LIA test for accurate, high-throughput VWF antigen quantification in type 1 VWD, a critical step for improving diagnostic consistency across laboratories. With over 30 citations, this work has informed international guidelines and streamlined patient identification. Beyond this, Dr. Goudemand has contributed to understanding VWF multimer structure and the molecular basis of VWD subtypes, influencing treatment strategies. Her collaborative efforts in large-scale, multi-center trials underscore her commitment to translating bench research into bedside practice, making her a pivotal figure in hemostasis and thrombosis research.
