Alberto Tosetto is a leading hematologist whose research has fundamentally advanced the diagnosis and management of von Willebrand disease (VWD), the most common inherited bleeding disorder. His work centers on refining diagnostic tools and establishing robust clinical endpoints for bleeding disorders. A key contribution is his leadership in the European multicenter MCMDM-1VWD study, which validated a rapid, quantitative test (VWF-LIA) for von Willebrand factor antigen, dramatically improving the accuracy and speed of type 1 VWD diagnosis.
