Ioan Iacovache is a leading structural biologist whose research focuses on the molecular mechanisms of membrane proteins and pore-forming toxins. He is best known for his pioneering work in developing and applying advanced methods for membrane protein crystallization, most notably through the creation of the 2DX robot—a versatile, high-throughput tool for 2D crystallization that has been described as a "Swiss Army knife" for the field.
