About
F. Becmeur is a pediatric surgeon whose research centers on surgical education and the management of vesicoureteral reflux (VUR) in children. His work addresses both the training of future surgeons and the optimization of treatment for common pediatric urological conditions. In a 2004 study surveying surgical residents at Strasbourg University Hospitals, Becmeur explored the effectiveness of surgical training methods, contributing to the ongoing discourse on how best to prepare the next generation of surgeons. More recently, he co-authored a 2024 international cost-effectiveness analysis comparing endoscopic injection versus anti-reflux surgery for moderate- to high-grade VUR (grades III–V). This multicenter retrospective study tackles a critical clinical gap: the lack of clear guidelines for managing severe VUR, a condition affecting many children. By evaluating both outcomes and economic factors, Becmeur’s work provides valuable evidence to guide treatment decisions. Though his citation counts are modest, his contributions are impactful within pediatric surgery, particularly in shaping surgical education and evidence-based care for VUR.
