About
Daisuke Tochii is a pioneering thoracic surgeon whose research has significantly advanced minimally invasive surgical techniques for anterior mediastinal and thoracic conditions, with a particular focus on thymectomy. His most influential contributions center on the development and refinement of subxiphoid surgical approaches, which eliminate the need for traditional median sternotomy and reduce patient trauma. Tochii was instrumental in establishing both single-port thymectomy and trans-subxiphoid robotic thymectomy using the da Vinci surgical system, innovations that have collectively garnered over 125 citations and reshaped clinical practice in thoracic surgery worldwide.
