Unitree G1

The Unitree G1 is a commercially available humanoid robot from Unitree Robotics (China), standing ~1.3 m tall and weighing ~35 kg, priced from approximately $13,500–$16,000 (base) up to ~$73,900 (EDU Ultimate), with 23–43 degrees of freedom depending on configuration. It is primarily a research and demonstration platform, with independent community sources consistently characterizing it as a toy/research tool not yet capable of economically useful autonomous work, despite vendor claims of factory deployment and autonomous household task execution via UnifoLM AI models. The robot has shipped over 5,500 units in 2025 and is available through Amazon and distributors, but faces documented reliability concerns including parts availability issues, short warranties, and sim-to-real deployment challenges. A notable Nvidia partnership for the Isaac Root research system uses a next-generation Unitree H2 body rather than the G1 itself. Autonomy is best characterized as Supervised-Autonomous at most for specific trained tasks, with teleoperation remaining a primary demonstrated use mode.
