A Fuzzy Controlled Greeting Robot: An Interactive System for Welcoming and Assisting Visitors

Abstract
Nowadays, technology has become a key driver in the development of innovations and the enhancement of organizational capabilities. To reflect the expertise in technology and to leave a positive impression on external visitors, a greeting robot was developed as one of the organization’s showcases. The project aimed to develop an autonomous greeting robot serving as a representative of the institution’s technological advancements. The primary functions were designed for greeting visitors, providing foundation information, and navigating autonomously within the premises. In this work, fuzzy logic control system was devised for autonomously control the movements, especially for obstacle avoidance. In addition, applied facial-recognition equipment, sensory data processing, and chatbot interaction are effectively equipped together. Finally, initial tests and experiments were performed to evaluate the robot performances.
