Abstract

This paper develops a generic framework that can be used to quantitatively evaluate multiple construction robots. An attempt has been made to link the business goals of top-level company management and robot implementation considerations with the evaluation process. The framework is based on Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) developed by Saaty and characterizes the evaluation problem into a hierarchy. Each level contained in the AHP consists of numerous elements that can be decomposed into a more defined set of elements. Prioritization of elements in each level is accomplished by industry experts through a pairwise comparison of elements with regard to their influence on an element of the adjacent upper level. An example application demonstrating the approach is also presented.
