Abstract

Comparison of mobile robots and their usability in differing environments due to the multitude of measures available for this purpose is challenging. For instance with serial arm manipulators high manipulability is an essential indicator but not usable for the more complex features of a mobile robot. Unfortunately, many indicators only take into account design metrics and optimistic situations compared to actual use of the robot. In this research paper, existing metrics for mobile robot are compared and a new one is suggested. In this paper a new proposed survivability metrics is evaluated based on the actual realization of the robot in relation to its supposed operating conditions and environment. An example of a mobile robot is evaluated by using this proposed method.
