Abstract

This study examines the integration of educational robotics and artificial intelligence (AI) in African STEM education, investigating the challenges and opportunities associated with this incorporation. A literature-based methodology reveals key barriers, including limited access to resources, insufficient teacher training, and infrastructure issues. Despite these challenges, the study identifies significant opportunities for fostering critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills among students. It emphasizes the importance of pedagogical approaches, such as constructivist learning and culturally relevant methodologies, for effective integration. The study concludes that overcoming these barriers necessitates coordinated efforts from governments, educational institutions, and the private sector. Recommendations include improving teacher training, developing inclusive policies, and adapting curricula to facilitate the integration of robotics and AI in African STEM education.
