Abstract

Towards Site 2000 - Developments in Automation and Robotics in Construction David A. Bradley and derek W. Seward, Fikry K. Garas Pages 131-137 (1991 Proceedings of the 8th ISARC, Stuttgart, Germany, ISSN 2413-5844) Abstract: The current state of robotic technology is briefly reviewed with a view to establish what developments need to take place to enable the fully integrated site of the future. A scenario is presented depicting how such a project could be organised – from tender stage to completion – and implications are drawn from this. It is concluded that such a scenario could become reality using largely current technology, but that the real barrier to implementation involve issues of management, organisation and attitude. A proposal for an international test-bed site is made.
