Application of Image Processing to Automatic Weld Inspection and Welding Process Control

Abstract

As welding and inspection of weld are complicated tasks, it has been said to be difficult to automate completely them. However, recently computer systems with various sensors have been developed with increasing speed, and some applications of intelligent system to these tasks have been tried. In this article, recent status of automatic inspection of weld and robot welding by intelligent robot applied artificial vision and image processing are reviewed.
