Abstract
Resource discovery is the problem of locating, and keeping track of, documents and other resources available on the Internet. This article investigates some of the techniques that are currently being employed to help solve this problem. These include manually created catalogue records, centralised robot indexers, distributed indexing technology and author supplied metadata.
