Abstract
A growing number robots with autonomous capabilities are operating in collaboration with the human operator. Safety of such cooperative scenarios is a key issue, yet the international standards describing their requirements are still under development. Guidelines and frameworks for verification and operation are still under finalization, requiring proactivity an precautiousness from the industry. As technology development evolves at a more rapid pace than regulations, there is a need to restructure the automotive development pipeline from the basics, starting at software level, or even earlier, at data level. This paper presents some practical considerations on how the early stages of autonomous systems development need to be orchestrated. A structure is given to address and identifies key action points as guidelines for the research community to enhance advancements.
