Abstract

This primer for project managers and engineers aims to help users exploit the potential of industrial robots in the design of production systems. The emphasis throughout the book is on profitability and flexibility in assembly and parts handling operations. Examples are given of successful and profitable applications and the author then takes the reader step by step through the process of preliminary study for an application, the project design and procurement and its final assessment in terms of manning, pay-back and investment costs. The book concludes with a series of rules for automation-friendly design.
