Abstract
A flow injection system has been combined with a robotic extraction procedure to automate the analysis of total vitamin C in foods. The results compare favorably with those from a standard AOAC procedure and a modified AOAC procedure. A disparity in the fluorometric responses of commercially purchased dehydroascorbic acid and ascorbic acid in all three methods is noted and is shown to be due to impurities in the dehydroascorbic acid standard
