Abstract

Geoditics are looking at hexapods for robot applications. In contrast to other developers, Geoditics' hexapod has eight degrees of freedom which dramatically improves dexterity. In the paper the author discusses: working volume; dexterity; gearing; stiffness and size; universal joints; drive mechanics; calibration and service; synchronous control; and estimated building costs.
