Abstract
Today rapid increases in computing power and connectivity make possible networked communications, electronic publishing, hypermedia, computer supported collaborative work, virtual reality, and expert systems such as knowbots (knowledge robots). Each of these developments is discussed, and potential impacts on libraries are examined. Library and information science has much to learn from and much to contribute to a world built on these technologies
