Abstract
This paper describes the key technologies of an automated optical main-distributing-frame system for the fiber-to-the-home network. The system consists of an optical matrix-board with a groove at each cross-point and a precision robot mechanism that manipulates refractive index matching oil. Experimental results for a prototype model confirm the feasibility of lightwave cross-connection.< <ETX xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">></ETX>
