Abstract
Conventional minimally invasive surgeries require that the surgeon shares the confined space around the OR table with a camera assistant. His main task is to guide the endoscopic camera in such a way that a good camera image of the operative site becomes available to the surgeon. The purpose of our research is to achieve the video quality provided by a human assistant and surpass it by means of a knowledge-based robotic system.
