Abstract

By the year 2023, the number of networked devices will cross the count of 29 billion. Current wireless network will have no chance to withstand that humongous network traffic. To meet these demands, drastic enhancements need to made in current wireless network. While the 802.11ax alias Wi-Fi 6, had just been introduced in the market, the standardisation process of 802.11be alias Wi-Fi 7, is already being consolidated. This paper provides details about limitations of current Wi- Fi standard and discuss the upgrades in Wi-Fi 7. Improvements and disruptive features of Wi-Fi 7 shows the capability of Wi-Fi 7 to bring revolution in technologies like Virtual Reality, Interactive Robots, Automated Vehicles, etc. Along with the features, we discuss the use cases of Wi-Fi 7 standard. After illustrating above details, we provide an idea of list of features which are still missing in this upcoming Wi-Fi standard and are expected to be introduced in later versions.
