Abstract
X language for inlplementing embedded systems should facilitate the developlnent of real-the programs. have clear formal semantics, allow both numeric and symbolic programming, and be easy to implement on parallel hardware. Rex! a LISP-based language that has been used to implement a variety of mobile-robot control programs, satisfies these criteria and is a viable alternative for the implementation of embedded systems. Because Rex uses sequential circuits as its model of computation, it is easily adapted to run on parallel hardware, and may also be used to design custom chips.
