Programmable Actuator for Combined Motion and Connection in Modular Robots
Source: arxiv.org · May 25, 2026
Summary
This paper presents a novel millimeter-scale actuator using Simplified Electro-Permanent magnets that enables both connection and smooth motion in a single unit. Implemented in the DILI modular robot system, it achieves reconfigurability with fine motion control, a first-of-its-kind capability for modular robotics.
