HRP-2 is a humanoid bipedal research robot developed by Kawada Robotics (a subsidiary of Kawada Technologies/Kawada Industries) in collaboration with AIST, originating from a Japanese government R&D project starting in 1998. The HRP-2 Promet stands 154 cm tall, weighs 58 kg, has 30 degrees of freedom, and can operate for approximately 60 minutes; a notable capability is self-recovery from lying flat on its back or front. As of late 2025, an updated HRP-2 with refreshed sensors, GPU, and AI software is undergoing operational trials at Kawada Construction facilities, with joint university research partnerships underway. Many extracted facts in the source set are irrelevant to HRP-2 (pertaining to PS VR2 controllers, sim racing pedals, high-speed cameras, and headphone amplifiers) and have been excluded from reconciliation.
