User Perspectives on Robotics for Post-stroke Hand Rehabilitation

Despite the importance of user perception of rehabilitative devices, few studies have been done to understand patients' subjective experience in robot-assisted rehabilitation. In this preliminary study, we investigate the user perception of an exoskeleton robotic device for post-stroke hand rehabilitation. Through semi-structured interviews and questionnaires, we gathered opinions from stroke patients, caregivers and biomedical researchers in terms of the subjective perception for the robotic device. Our results show split attitudes across stakeholders.
