The Development of the Wearable Robot Perception (WeaR-P) Questionnaire

Advancing wearable worker assistive technology, such as exoskeletons, has been increasingly used in broad workplaces due to its potential to improve worker health and safety and increase productivity, especially among workers with limited or declined physical capabilities. However, there is limited understanding of the current and potential users’ perceptions of this rapidly advancing technology and how those positive or negative perceptions may impact their interaction with wearable robots. Researchers have conducted a literature review of studies examining robot users’ attitudes and technology acceptance to address this gap. Based on the review, we developed a new questionnaire that can be used to assess multi-dimensional user perception of wearable robots. This questionnaire can help provide valuable insights into how individuals perceive emerging wearable robots and the impacts of user perception on their behaviors and attitudes.
