摘要

Abstract Micropropagation is the true-to-type propagation of the selected genotype using in vitro techniques. In 1991 the world production of micropropagated plants was estimated to be 600 million plants, mainly in the categories of pot plants, cut flowers, fruit trees, and plants producing geophytes. The most frequently cloned crops are Ficus, Syngonium, potato, strawberry, Spathiphyllum, and Gerbera (1). The use of tissue culture for cloning plants is expensive. However, the introduction of automation and robotization to reduce manual labour is evolving quickly and will broaden the range of plants that can be propagated economically.
