摘要
This chapter investigates the transformative impact of intelligent manufacturing in the context of Industry 4.0, tracing its evolution from the early industrial revolutions to the current digital era. It defines intelligent manufacturing comprehensively, outlining its broad scope and fundamental principles essential for integration into modern industrial practices. The study delves into the theoretical underpinnings with a focus on cyber-physical systems within smart manufacturing ecosystems, emphasizing their role in fostering adaptive supply chains and enabling real-time data processing for agile decision-making. Architectures and frameworks of Cyber-Physical Production Systems are explored in detail, highlighting their contributions to enhancing operational efficiency and optimizing production processes through advanced technological implementations. The Industrial Internet of Things is examined for its pivotal role, including its architectures, protocols, and the increasing relevance of edge computing and robust sensor networks in industrial automation. Enabling technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, additive manufacturing, data analytics, and quantum computing are critically analyzed for their transformative potential in manufacturing. The study addresses standards, protocols, and interoperability challenges, focusing on industrial communication standards like OPC UA and DDS, while also considering international standards such as ISO/IEC and ANSI to drive innovation and ensure global competitiveness. The chapter concludes by envisioning future trends including digital twin technology, autonomous systems, human-centric manufacturing, and sustainable practices, foreseeing a future enriched by technological advancements and characterized by sustainable growth and innovation in intelligent manufacturing.
