摘要

BACKGROUND: The feasibility of laparoscopic resection of gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST) has been demonstrated by many researchers, but the use of robotic surgery for gastric GIST has been reported only once. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We performed robot-assisted laparoscopic resection for a 74-year-old man diagnosed with a submucosal tumor in the posterior wall of the gastric corpus. The procedure was performed using the da Vinci Surgical System. The tumor was dissected using an electric knife with at least a 1- to 2-cm margin. The stomach was closed with the Albert-Lembert suture using Vicryl 3-0. The procedure was completed successfully in 190 minutes without perioperative complications. CONCLUSIONS: Robot-assisted laparoscopic resection for gastric GIST is a safe and feasible technique. The da Vinci Surgical System simplifies resecting and suturing the stomach with an appropriate margin.
