About
M. S. Carvalho is a leading figure in large-scale astronomical surveys, with a primary focus on multi-band photometric mapping of the southern sky. Their most significant contribution is to the Southern Photometric Local Universe Survey (S-PLUS), a monumental project designed to image approximately 9,300 square degrees using a unique set of twelve filters—seven narrow and five broadbands. As a key author of the project’s fourth data release, published in 2024, Carvalho has helped deliver a high-quality, 12-filter photometric catalog covering over 3,000 square degrees.
