Dominik Neise is a key figure in very-high-energy (VHE) gamma-ray astrophysics, specializing in the long-term monitoring of blazars—active galactic nuclei with relativistic jets. His most impactful work centers on the **First G-APD Cherenkov Telescope (FACT)**, a pioneering instrument that was the first to replace traditional photomultiplier tubes with **silicon photomultipliers (SiPMs, aka G-APDs)**.
