Cheryl Tatano Beck is a pioneering nurse researcher whose work has fundamentally shaped our understanding of postpartum mental health. Her primary research areas include postpartum depression, mother-infant bonding, and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) after childbirth. Beck’s most influential contribution is her phenomenological study of postpartum depressed mothers’ experiences interacting with their children (162 citations), which revealed nine critical theme clusters that illuminated the profound emotional and relational challenges these mothers face.
