About
B. H. Dunlap is an observational astrophysicist specializing in the study of hot subdwarf B (sdB) stars, particularly their pulsational properties. Dunlap’s major contributions lie in the detection and characterization of rapidly oscillating sdB variables (sdBV), using multi-site photometry and time-resolved spectroscopy to probe the interiors of these evolved, compact stars. In the landmark 2010 study of CS 1246 (25 citations), Dunlap reported the discovery of a large-amplitude oscillation, providing critical data for asteroseismic modeling. This work, leveraging the unique capabilities of the PROMPT telescope array, established new constraints on the structure and evolution of extreme horizontal branch stars.
